This week we are asking that you create a rationale and a "skeleton" of a plan or project that uses Web 2.0 technology to increase dialogue either in your classroom or in your academic work. By the end of the week we expect each participant to outline a project using Web 2.0 technology to be attached to this wiki for feedback. This outline should lead to a 1500 to 1800 word proposal that fulfills the following requirements: - A title for your project, and up to a 100-word abstract.
- A rationale of 300-400 words describing your reasons for engaging in the project and how it will impact teaching and learning in your classroom or educational context.
- An explicit account of how your project meets the following criteria
- incorporates at least one Web 2.0 tool
- furthers your curriculum, instruction, and assessment needs/goals
- linked to this wiki
- makes use of at least one of Red Clay's philosophical lenses
- A timeline that shows the following information:
- activities
- anticipated dates of completion
- tools that will be used
- Explain and discuss how this week's work at the AI has influenced the development of this project. What are you doing now that you would not have done a week ago?
Red Clay often claims to be about "starts" or just getting started, realizing that whatever is created will continue to grow and evolve. Also, due to the diversity of needs and contexts in which we are working, there are infinite possibilities for this project. So, we understand that your project will not be fully realized in one week.
In order to help guide your project towards its successful implementation, you will use the
Charrette framework to present your initial work toward this final goal as part of a Critical Friends Group on Friday. We think MAPS will be particularly useful for developing your Charrette outline. You will then go on to develop your 1500-1800 word detailed plan.
Submit your final project to this Wiki by creating a page (your name) by 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008.
Here's an example of a written project proposal:

Media
What are the tools and resources we can incorporate to be the platform from which your plan or project will spring from?
(Wikis and Blogs are good places to start because they lend themselves to a myriad of uses and are versatile)
Audience
Decide who your audience will be.
Will it be students, parents, other graduate students?
What will this mean for engaging in professional learning?
Purpose
What is your intention in creating this plan or project?
What are your goals and does the media and methods you choose help to achieve these goals?
How can we bring a critical eye to this work?
Situation
In what contexts will this plan be most beneficial?
What will this mean for rethinking literacy teaching in our classrooms?
Does everyone have equal access and if not how do we ensure greater equality of resources?
