I would be very grateful for any suggestions and feedback that you all could give me for my project. Currently, I have invited everyone to join the blog that represents what my project might become (Student Teaching Journaling Blog). I just posted something on that blog that describes a particular issue I am pondering right now. Is there a better way to solicit feedback? What I mean is...is there a more efficient place (like this discussion thread or by sending out some sort of group e-mail) where I can pose particular questions and solicit feedback from our group on my project?

Linda, I think you have a great idea. The only problem is that, just as they said in class, it is difficult to attract people to your blog. You may want to do some miscellaneous searches on the internet and see if you can discover some forums or discussions that are consistent with your subject. Good luck!!

1. I was impressed with the various strategies that the team employed throughout the week. For example, I had never before experienced text rendering. I very much appreciate the very open and relaxed atmosphere that you provided during the week. Here, I am referring to the manner in which you fielded questions ensuring that no one was made to feel that their question was dumb. I concur with whoever said that they liked that you were learners with us in this environment. 2. I found the readings about digital storytelling to be most helpful because it continues to be an area of great interest to me. 3. Our discussions were very helpful. I'm glad that they included the connection between web 2.0 tools and why to use them (relating back to the basics of educational psychology and learning).

What kinds of jobs can a tech team do to support teachers?
What about Saturday workshops for technology? What would these workshops look like? Series of tech workshops/cafeteria style. An overview workshop and then specifics. GPS must be connected. Parents could be involved or have workshops together at the schools.

"Thanks for listening to my plan. Please give me both positive and negative feedback. I would also appreciate it if you would consider recommending anything you feel would help improve the application and functionality of my plan." David - I was impressed with the degree to which you had developed your ideas for the wiki. I especially liked the way you organized the wiki into different sections that directed viewers to whatever they were interested in. I think that parents could really benefit from using the wiki and was wondering if you had found that your students had computers at home and access at home to the Internet. - Linda Lord

This is an e-mail I thought some of you might be interested in.
Hello, Please pass this along to any teachers or other educators you know. Educators and their families get FREE ADMISSION to Solar Festival '08 (Saturday/Sunday June 28-29). This solar-powered music festival is being held on 135-acres at Georgia Nature Center in Oconee County (located 20 min. south of Athens, 75 min. east of Atlanta). Free admission to the festival on either, or both days, is for teachers, professors and any other school employees. Simply show school ID, business card, or other documentation at the gate for free admission for you and up to four additional family members. (Admission for the general public is $10 for adults and $5 for students.) You can read about the festival here: http://www.SolarFestival.Org
Some of the best folk, jazz and bluegrass acts will perform including:
Grogus (popular latin jazz quartet featuring Carl Lindberg)
Curley Maple (with David Blackmon, known for playing with Widespread Panic)
Caroline Aiken (she has shared the stage with Indigo Girls, and Indigo Girls have sung backup on Caroline's recordings)
AZ-IZ (featuring Dubconscious lead singer Adrian Zelski)
Other acts include Kate Morrissey, 16 Tons, The MudFlapJacks, Incatepec and Gordon Stelter. Don't worry about the heat -- we have overhead misters, and plenty of tents and trees for shade. And, if it happens to rain, we have covered seating (bring an umbrella just in case). If you get hungry, gourmet food will be available from Kelly's Jamaican.

I liked the question about the potential impact on F2F communication. It's an interesting concept. How will the way we interact change because of web 2.0. I wonder if there aren't both positive and negative influences. Seems like there's potential for virtual friends to become F2F friends. But I also wonder if we are less likely to be outside having F2F contact. Any thoughts?

I definitely agree with both of you that there will be positive and negative implications. I remember reading an article saying that people "make friends" with the characters on the sitcoms they watch and that these friends satisfy the same needs that real friends do. At the gut level, I don't necessarily agree with this. But it is a possibility. I do believe that friends made and maintained by long distance communication are pretty real. While there are drawbacks, there is active communication (something that is almost completely lacking while watching the television).

I want to do more podcasting because no cameras--right? This would be an easy forum to incorporate technology. There is planning, but podcasting would be a nice way to introduce plays like in the old radio days?

Watching the process as the team presented info today has been very valuable. I had never experienced "chalk talk" before. As you model and teach, I am looking to see what strategies I can replicate in my classroom next year. Not only am I going to try a chalk talk, but I can't wait to try to have students answer questions in groups the way we answered questions 1-4 today with Bob. I wouldn't change a thing. You guys are doing a GREAT job!
